BSUF
has entered into an agreement with the British Marshall Commission
whereby one or more British Marshall Scholarships will be underwritten
annually by BSUF’s Thomas E. Ward, Sr. and Richard E. & and
Kathleen May Scholarship Funds. The
new arrangement, which replaces BSUF’s previous scholarship program,
relieves the Foundation of a growing burden of administrative work and
expense, so that all funds available for the program are received by
scholars.

The inaugural BSUF-Marshall
Scholar is James Matthew Powers, who is currently completing his final
year at the United States Military Academy. During his time in the
United Kingdom he intends to pursue an MA degree in Chinese Studies at
the School of Oriental and African Studies, where he will work with
noted scholars in this field.

The

to commemorate the humane ideals of the Marshall Plan.
They are administered in the U. K. by the Marshall Aid
Commemoration Commission and in the
U.S.
by the British Embassy in
Washington
and five regional Consulates-General.
